Question: I would like to interact with more people in general, not only those who have disabilities. I'm looking for ways to socialize while being active at the same time. Have you found any local resources?
Answer: PossAbilities is one community outreach program out of Loma Linda University Medical Center. It offers disabled individuals opportunities for social activities, practical resources while providing a sense of community. This free membership program is tailored to persons with physical disabilities such as limb amputations, stroke, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, spina bifida, and others. There is no age limit. PossAbilities provides resources and opportunities for persons with diverse disabilities. It offers many opportunities to get active and healthy and make new friends. You might try signing up for the next athletic competition offered at PossAbilities and compete against others with and without disabilities.
