"Our son was having trouble concentrating with his homework, requiring many hours to complete the required daily tasks.  We began to question whether the work was too difficult, or he simply could not grasp the concepts.  Fortunately, we found Brent.  Upon first meeting him, my wife and I were both impressed by the way he made our son feel comfortable.  His formal evaluation and assessment enabled us to determine what our son's unique learning style, which has contributed greatly to our son's academic progress and success. Brent is a blessing, and we would recommend him to anyone who is concerned about their child's educational issues."

Such A Comprehensive Evaluation!

As the coordinator of a large high school's Special education program, I sometimes struggle with the placement of students from other districts. When an out of district student enters we make an initial placement based on the current IEP. We then hold a follow up meeting 30-days later. The follow-up meeting allows us to update the IEP and ensure the student is getting all available services. Recently, I had a student enter our school and at the 30-day follow-up meeting the parent shared Brent's evaluation of the student's strengths and areas of need. I was impressed by the comprehensive report and our team was able to address all the student's needs right away. Usually, it takes time for our staff to get to know the student and since the first 30-days at a new school are often a "honeymoon" period, we sometimes miss key issues. However, with Brent's report we were able to make sure the appropriate services were in place immediately, which made a smooth transition for this particular youngster.

First Grade Melt Downs

Our daughter was in first grade, she was doing good, had good grades, always excited about going to school. Then all of a sudden it changed, she was having melt downs about homework, crying over nothing, asking to go the the office almost everyday for something (ear ache, tummy ache, headache). Your extensive evaluation was very informative, it really helped us to understand her better. We are looking forward to implimenting your suggestions in the next school year.
Thank you,
SJ

Private schools often don’t have the staffing to evaluate the needs of those students who seem to struggle in school.  Brent Cooper is the first person we recommend to parents for providing a thorough and extremely professional educational assessment.   Brent has consistently delivered his evaluation information in a meaningful and timely manner which has proven invaluable to parents and our school.

As a psychotherapist in private practice I work primarily with adults. Many times those clients talk about the struggles their children are having in school and in more social settings with other children. It is without hesitation that I refer them to Brent Cooper for evaluation. I have found Brent's work to be of the highest caliber. The people I refer to him report that he is able to get to the heart of the problems affecting their children in a professional and non-threatening manner and make recommendations and referrals that produce real change in their families. I value and look forward to continuing my professional relationship with Brent in the years ahead.

My son he has struggled academically since Kindergarten. It would take hours for him to complete a small portion of homework, and only if we sat with him and helped him through each and every problem. Even after explaining how to do the work, over and over, he still would not understand it. Because he was our first, we wondered if this was normal, if he was just being lazy, or if he was pretending not to understand so that he wouldn’t have to do the work. We thought the school was assigning too much homework, and that it was too hard. Every report card was below average or failing. Every school year they threatened to retain him. We knew he was bright, so we couldn’t understand why he was having so much trouble. I can’t describe how much

We Felt so Lost!

We felt so lost, when the teacher told us that our son was having a very hard time paying attention in class. But not for long. After meeting with Brent and completing the educational assessment we felt in control, because we learned why our child was having difficulty and what could be done to help him learn how to pay attention in class. The best part, well there is actually many best parts; the assessment offered many "Aha! Moments" for us, Brent sought to help our son feel really good about himself, the teachers were provided with the information they needed to help our son succeed and our family now has an excellent source of ongoing support.

Brent Cooper is a huge blessing to the families at our school. When one of our student's is referred to him, I know that they will receive the best possible services for testing in the desert. Students and parents report to me that he is very patient, kind, caring and establishes a rapport with the student and their family during the testing process. This excellent way of working puts the student and their family at ease during the testing process.&nsp; After testing is done, Brent spends a good amount of time to debrief with the student and their family on the results of the test as well as answering any questions that they may have. Brent has worked extensively with teachers, my principal and I, on coordinating services for students at our school.

After the testing process is completed and if the parents consent, Brent has many times come to meet with our staff and families in Student Success Team meetings. These meetings are so valuable in setting up a good academic plan for the student. We are very grateful to Brent for the time he takes to be a part of these meetings. I have found Brent very easy to work with. He is always flexible to our needs. He is always ready to answer questions and to clarify areas we might not understand. I am very grateful to work with such a knowledgeable professional.

I highly recommend Brent Cooper for any Educational Testing needs!

Dear Brent,

It has been my pleasure to refer several of the parents of our students at St. Margaret’s Episcopal School to you for psycho-educational testing. Your knowledge and expertise with students in need of additional services are commendable. Brent has assisted the parents of these students with his comprehensive reports and salient recommendations that have positively impacted the students’ learning.

Brent is responsive to the parental concerns and works with them closely in developing beneficial recommendations for their children. I have the utmost respect for the work Brent does for the students who require additional learning assistance. Thanks Brent for all that you have done to help some of our students.

Thanks Brent!

My son attends Ronald Regan Elementary School in the Desert Sands School District. Meeting after meeting with the teacher, psychologist, and administrators, the school had nothing to offer and refused to evaluate my son saying there was nothing wrong with him. They used the excuse that he was too young to be tested. Coincidentally, I read your article in the newspaper the following morning and made an appointment to see you. Your service has been a life saver! It has been a tremendous relief to obtain a precise diagnosis, through your expert evaluation and interpretation. You guided us through the process at my son’s school and he is now receiving special accommodations due to his ADHD. You asked me to return a year later for a follow-up consultation and we discussed the tremendous progress Michael has made. You gave us the help and the answers I was looking for. You provided us with the knowledge and support we never would have received through the school.

Thanks Brent!

As an Administrator of Boehm, an early childhood educational program, I've had the privilege of having Brent Cooper, Educational Psychologist, come and observe children at the center on numerous occasions. His knowledge in evaluating children's individual learning patterns or analyzing a behavior is exact. The manner in which he formulates a plan that works for a child to succeed is amazing. Brent's personal qualities include patience, concern for others and the ability to inspire confidence in the students, parents and teachers he works with. I had the privilege of having Brent Cooper present a series of important topics to a large crowd of parents and teachers including How Children Learn, the topic gave attendees a clear picture of how learning styles in children vary.

Mr. Brent M. Cooper, a Licensed Educational Psychologist, has been working with parents and students at Christian Schools of the Desert for the last 3 years. His expertise has been most helpful for us as he conducted educational evaluations for our students. Mr. Cooper compiles background information of the student including an examination of the child's family and medical history, school performance, emotional factors, motivational issues and attention span. This ensures a more accurate diagnosis and occurs before diagnostic testing begins.

The results of the evaluation supply valuable information for each student including a description of his intellectual ability, academic achievement, psychological processing abilities, and social-emotional functioning; he gives a summary of the student's significant learning strengths and weaknesses; a determination or diagnosis; and recommendations for remediation. I highly recommend Mr. Cooper for any educational assessment and counseling you might want for your child.

We've struggled with our son with the school environment since he entered kindergarten. He's repeated 1st grade, although he is listed as a "GATE" student, he had been diagnosed ADD, and most recently with "School Phobia", but we had yet to find a solution for a protected learning environment for our son who's now in 5th grade.

We were referred to Brent Cooper by a family friend whose child had similar problems with school and made an appointment for an evaluation of our son. After the testing was complete, we finally had an answer. The assessment proved what we already knew, that our son was above average intelligence, and that he had learning disabilities and an anxiety disorder that could not be "categorized", but were impeding his ability to attend school and get an education.

We are now working with the School District's "Special Education" program with Brent's guidance, to find the best solution for OUR child, Brent's help and insight has been a blessing to our family. We remain grateful for his experience and caring nature towards our child.

Brent Cooper has been a colleague of mine for some time now. I am impressed by the honesty, integrity, compassion, thoughtfulness and thoroughness that he gives to every child he evaluates. He offers the same to the parents of the children he sees. He is hyper-vigilant about making sure the parents understand the results of his assessments and offers guidelines and modifications that they can use on a daily basis both at home and in the school setting. Brent is a true professional. He has reached out to others in the community who can provide ancillary services to meet the needs of his clients including speech therapy, occupational therapy and physical therapy. The services that Brent offers are useful to any parent who has concerns about their child in the areas of cognition, language, social skills or specific learning disabilities. He will assist you, as a parent, to identify your child's areas of weakness BUT will also be happy to help identify their areas of STRENGTH!

Brent Cooper has been an invaluable tool in helping to better understand my sons’ educational needs. I first found Brent last June. He worked with my older son. The information that I learned, about my son’s learning needs, academic strengths and weaknesses, has been so valuable. We have been able to provide his teachers with a clear list of information about how he learns and how to work with him. Most importantly, my son is becoming a more confident, successful student and person.

When my younger son began displaying signs of a possible visual processing issue, I did not hesitate to call Brent and ask for his assistance again. We completed the entire testing processes quickly and were able to get the report back to the school within a month.

The school district’s psychologist was very impressed with the report that Brent wrote. She noted that the testing he does is in line with what the district would do and that his report was very in-depth and offered a solid list of modifications to help my son succeed.

As a mother, I am so grateful to have found the tools, through Brent Cooper, to help my sons meet their potential and be happy successful learners. As a teacher, I can only wish that each of my students was able to receive the benefits of working with Brent.

We have had two of our children currently attending Palm Desert High School evaluated by Brent. We were very satisfied with his results. The test results validated everything we already knew about our children but gave us the final approval that something needed to change. No more were they able to give us excuses for not getting good grades. After spending several sessions and hours with Brent our children showed a major attitude adjustment. Just months after the evaluation, we have seen a dramatic improvement in their effort and higher test scores. We look forward to visiting Brent this next progress period to show him our children's improved report card.

Dear Brent,

I wanted to take this time to share with you and hopefully others, the positive experience that my son and I had in coming to see you for testing. While I found you to be very thorough in all of your testing, I was genuinely impressed by your vast knowledge. The time you spent in explaining all the details of the tests was comforting in the fact that you were simple, but made sure what was important to focus on for the present and future welfare for my son. We all know that the 12, 13 & 14 years for both boys and girls are most challenging years for parents. Especially for single parents. (Smiling)

Before I contacted you my son was attending Sylvan Learning Center. The scores of his educational testing from Sylvan were very similar to yours, which made me feel very secure in knowing that your testing was so accurate. However, while Sylvan was just academic testing, I found that your method of testing to be more informative in the overall educational and psychological arenas combined. I can't tell you how much the psychological, visual, and auditory testing opened up my eyes to what my son's needs were. Your testing was able to identify the underlying cause for Cole's learning problem. I was then able to share some of my son's needs with his teachers at Palm Desert Middle School and his tutor. The information gained has helped him immensely.

Last but not least, I want to thank you for just being you. It was so evident that your love for kids is and was pure. While my son had negative vibes about seeing other therapists in the past, he seemed to feel very comfortable with you. I was enjoying the interaction between the two of you. I also saw a trust level with Cole towards you that I did not see in the past with other therapists. And it happened so quickly. I thank you again for being you. You are a warm, dedicated professional and a very personable man. It was a wonderful and informative experience for both Cole and me.

Again, thank you for making a difference,

Sincerely,

J.P.

Brent took his time to make my son comfortable and made the tests fun. We were given more options than anyone else seemed to have. When my son goes to his social skills appointments he is so excited and can't wait to start! If you ask my son about Brent his reply is "Brent's not a doctor...he is my FRIEND!

Our son, who attends, Christian Schools of the Desert, had severe anxiety about learning and anything involving the classroom. After my son was evaluated, we had a clearer picture of his strengths and weaknesses and were better able to help him succeed at school. Brent has changed my son's life about learning, also about himself. At the end of the school year he was given an award in front of the school for most progress and the Outstanding Achievement Award. The teacher was tearing up when she spoke of his difficult start, with an outstanding finish! We started this new school year with a great attitude and smiles daily. This was not something that any loving great parent could have changed. It had to come from an outside source, Brent was it.

Thank you Brent!

I truly appreciate how you have helped our family. First, you gave my special needs/medically fragile 5-year-old a thorough evaluation. I was amazed at how you were able to deal with her and bring out her best. She seemed to think it was just a fun event designed just for her and wasn't ready to leave when you were finished. I felt that your evaluation was so on target and completely accurate. Your evaluation of my child has been my documented support that has helped me obtain the education my child deserves within the school district and continues to be of utmost support in getting her serviced to fit her fluctuating educational needs.

I feel so supported by you. You told me to call you if I had any concerns pertaining to my child and you meant it. As you know, I had several crises to do with educational issues for my daughter and a couple of personal crises as well. Each time I called you, you either referred me to someone who could and did actually help me or you walked me thru the steps I needed to take to begin to resolve whatever issue I had called about. I really wish I had known you when my teenager was younger so I could have had her properly evaluated and perhaps avoided a lot of confusion and misplacement for her academically.

You've been a real life saver many times for us.

Thanks again Brent,

J. Austin

As a high school student in challenging academic courses, I felt disadvantaged compared to my classmates.

My Mom and I heard about Brent through the school counselors and felt that it was time I was tested for ADHD. The process could not have been more professional, accurate, or comfortable. Brent made my testing a positive experience and going to his office was something I looked forward to. I recommend Brent and his programs with my highest regard. Brent helped me in every aspect of my disability and without his help I would not have received the accommodations (extra time on tests) in high school that helped me so much. Brent's programs are professional and his easygoingness and positive attitude truly made me feel relaxed and comfortable during the time we spent together. Brent Cooper made a difference in my life academically and if your son or daughter needs testing, Brent is everything you're looking for.
