My son he has struggled academically since Kindergarten. It would take hours for him to complete a small portion of homework, and only if we sat with him and helped him through each and every problem. Even after explaining how to do the work, over and over, he still would not understand it. Because he was our first, we wondered if this was normal, if he was just being lazy, or if he was pretending not to understand so that he wouldn’t have to do the work. We thought the school was assigning too much homework, and that it was too hard. Every report card was below average or failing. Every school year they threatened to retain him. We knew he was bright, so we couldn’t understand why he was having so much trouble. I can’t describe how much
stress this created in our lives. We kept hoping he would grow out of it, but each year it happened again. Finally we decided to have him tested by a specialist. So I made an appointment for my son with Brent Cooper.
The testing process was easy, my son had a lot of fun. Brent was a pleasure to work with. I had a very busy schedule, so Brent even opened the testing center on a Saturday for us. The testing revealed that my son was suffering the effects of ADHD. Brent explained the different options we had, and once we decided which options to pursue, Brent knew exactly how to proceed. He explained what the school is obligated to do for our son, and when they have to do it. When we pursued our rights with the school, Brent was on call to answer our questions and explain what was going on. It was great to go into a school meeting and be able to tell the school experts that “my son qualifies for school resources because his math score had more than a 23 point discrepancy.” I would not have known about this if it wasn’t for Brent’s professional help. We were also in the process of changing pediatricians, and Brent recommended the best pediatrician we have ever had. At the end of our first visit, I switched my daughter over to the same pediatrician. But above all, Brent’s help brought peace of mind and put an end to the stress. It was such a relief to stop worrying about the problem, and to finally do something about it. Thanks to Brent my son’s teacher has noticed a huge improvement. She doesn’t have to spend so much time keeping my son on task, and he can now complete his work on his own in a fraction of the time it used to take him. My only regret is that we didn’t do this right away. Thank you Brent for all your help, we could not have done it without you.
