First Grade Melt Downs

Our daughter was in first grade, she was doing good, had good grades, always excited about going to school. Then all of a sudden it changed, she was having melt downs about homework, crying over nothing, asking to go the the office almost everyday for something (ear ache, tummy ache, headache). Your extensive evaluation was very informative, it really helped us to understand her better. We are looking forward to implimenting your suggestions in the next school year.
Thank you,
SJ

He has truly blossomed

Being from Blythe, we had little to no options available before we met you. I can’t believe what a difference the diagnosis and recommendations you made has had on our son Taylor! He went from being a kid with disciplinary problems to an honor roll student! He has truly blossomed into a perfect child and student and we couldn’t be happier. With your help and continued partnership, I know Taylor has a bright future ahead of him!

My son he has struggled academically since Kindergarten. It would take hours for him to complete a small portion of homework, and only if we sat with him and helped him through each and every problem. Even after explaining how to do the work, over and over, he still would not understand it. Because he was our first, we wondered if this was normal, if he was just being lazy, or if he was pretending not to understand so that he wouldn’t have to do the work. We thought the school was assigning too much homework, and that it was too hard. Every report card was below average or failing. Every school year they threatened to retain him. We knew he was bright, so we couldn’t understand why he was having so much trouble. I can’t describe how much

We Felt so Lost!

We felt so lost, when the teacher told us that our son was having a very hard time paying attention in class. But not for long. After meeting with Brent and completing the educational assessment we felt in control, because we learned why our child was having difficulty and what could be done to help him learn how to pay attention in class. The best part, well there is actually many best parts; the assessment offered many "Aha! Moments" for us, Brent sought to help our son feel really good about himself, the teachers were provided with the information they needed to help our son succeed and our family now has an excellent source of ongoing support.

That was Some Kind of Miracle!

I just wanted you to know that I am so grateful for your help and thorough evaluation for my son Kai. He has made a dramatic improvement in his grades and now actually seems happier.

That was Some Kind of Miracle!
Thank you so much!!!

Your extensive report and discussion of the results at our final meeting was informational, and helpful. You helped me better understand my grandsons learning disability. I always knew there were gaps in his education but the school wouldn’t believe me. It’s too bad!!! So much time passed by without him receiving the help he so desperately needed. Thank you for referring me to the learning institute for educational therapy. You are both a blessing. The care I have been given at your center has been very professional, prompt and honest. I would strongly suggest it to anyone.

Thanks Brent!

My son attends Ronald Regan Elementary School in the Desert Sands School District. Meeting after meeting with the teacher, psychologist, and administrators, the school had nothing to offer and refused to evaluate my son saying there was nothing wrong with him. They used the excuse that he was too young to be tested. Coincidentally, I read your article in the newspaper the following morning and made an appointment to see you. Your service has been a life saver! It has been a tremendous relief to obtain a precise diagnosis, through your expert evaluation and interpretation. You guided us through the process at my son’s school and he is now receiving special accommodations due to his ADHD. You asked me to return a year later for a follow-up consultation and we discussed the tremendous progress Michael has made. You gave us the help and the answers I was looking for. You provided us with the knowledge and support we never would have received through the school.

Thanks Brent!

We've struggled with our son with the school environment since he entered kindergarten. He's repeated 1st grade, although he is listed as a "GATE" student, he had been diagnosed ADD, and most recently with "School Phobia", but we had yet to find a solution for a protected learning environment for our son who's now in 5th grade.

We were referred to Brent Cooper by a family friend whose child had similar problems with school and made an appointment for an evaluation of our son. After the testing was complete, we finally had an answer. The assessment proved what we already knew, that our son was above average intelligence, and that he had learning disabilities and an anxiety disorder that could not be "categorized", but were impeding his ability to attend school and get an education.

We are now working with the School District's "Special Education" program with Brent's guidance, to find the best solution for OUR child, Brent's help and insight has been a blessing to our family. We remain grateful for his experience and caring nature towards our child.

My son attends Palm Valley/Marywood Elementary School. I brought my son to Brent Cooper who is wonderful with children and goes that extra mile to find out exactly what is going on with your child. He is a man of integrity whom I respect very much. I was referred to you by my son's counselor from the Desert Sands School District. Brent was exceptionally helpful and professional. He was also very thorough and made my son feel at ease. I am really glad that I decided to come here. Now that we have a road map to follow, it makes me feel much more hopeful of the future. Thanks for all the help!

Caring Father

I found Brent Cooper’s articles in the Desert Sun informative and enlightening. Having a difficult and challenging child of my own, I decided to come in for a free consultation. The whole process was everything I wanted. My final session with Brent was informative and enlightening. I look forward to treatment and improvement of my son’s learning disability.

We have had two of our children currently attending Palm Desert High School evaluated by Brent. We were very satisfied with his results. The test results validated everything we already knew about our children but gave us the final approval that something needed to change. No more were they able to give us excuses for not getting good grades. After spending several sessions and hours with Brent our children showed a major attitude adjustment. Just months after the evaluation, we have seen a dramatic improvement in their effort and higher test scores. We look forward to visiting Brent this next progress period to show him our children's improved report card.

Brent Cooper’s assessments are very comprehensive and helpful and made my son feel very comfortable. I am really glad that I decided to bring my eight year old son here but wished I had done it earlier. The feedback session at the end of the testing was worth everything in itself. I really appreciate the straightforward and simple manner in which Brent Cooper presents his results. It made me feel much more hopeful of the future. Thanks for all the help!

Thank you Brent!

I was referred to Brent Cooper from Sylvan Learning Center which was a blessing in disguise. I am very eager to implement the strategies that I have been given by Brent Cooper at El Paseo Children’s Center for Psychological and Educational Assessment. This as been an extraordinary experience for us. After years of struggle and distress we finally feel like we have an accurate diagnosis and we are on our road to recovery. So many questions have been finally answered. I thank you sincerely and look forward to a happier future.

Thank you Brent!

I believe every person would greatly benefit from coming here and having a psycho-educational evaluation done. I’m very impressed with Brent Cooper’s approach to evaluating learning problems. Instead of just making a speculative diagnosis, he gathers vital information form parents, schools, as well as his specialized tests. This has been an educational, informative, and life changing experience.

Mr. Brent,

I just have to say, I wish I would have done this when I was younger. My son who attends Xavier College Prep in Palm Desert had an attitude adjustment just after our first initial visit with you. Since we completed the testing and met with you to discuss the results, he is now able to see for himself what his true potential is and is more motivated than I ever have seen him. My wife and I are astonished by how much his confidence has soared in such a short period of time.

Brent,

We wanted to obtain a second opinion on my daughter’s evaluation which was completed by her school. We were very satisfied with the manner her personal information was collected and assessed. Also, we were impressed with the depth of your assessment. I’m very confident that the correct conclusion and recommendations were made. Thanks!

Brent,
I am not one who takes time to write thank you notes but I think this is well-deserved. Brent, I can not say enough about how pleased we are with your evaluation of our daughter. We had been puzzled with her for so long...always knowing that there was something wrong. We kept hearing that Jessica would eventually grow out of it. I'll be honest, it wasn't easy to hear that she has Autism but at least now we know where to start.
Thank you again for providing us with the answers we so desperately needed and moving us along in the right direction.

What I appreciated most about Brent was his ability to be professional and personal at the same time. Initially, my son was resistant to going but after it was all completed, my son was disappointed that the process was complete. Brent was generous enough to come to his High School and present the results to the staff so they could have a better understanding of my son’s learning challenges. Overall, it was a very positive experience and a great investment in our son’s future. Our family feels blessed to have known Brent.

Dear Brent,

I wanted to take this time to share with you and hopefully others, the positive experience that my son and I had in coming to see you for testing. While I found you to be very thorough in all of your testing, I was genuinely impressed by your vast knowledge. The time you spent in explaining all the details of the tests was comforting in the fact that you were simple, but made sure what was important to focus on for the present and future welfare for my son. We all know that the 12, 13 & 14 years for both boys and girls are most challenging years for parents. Especially for single parents. (Smiling)

Before I contacted you my son was attending Sylvan Learning Center. The scores of his educational testing from Sylvan were very similar to yours, which made me feel very secure in knowing that your testing was so accurate. However, while Sylvan was just academic testing, I found that your method of testing to be more informative in the overall educational and psychological arenas combined. I can't tell you how much the psychological, visual, and auditory testing opened up my eyes to what my son's needs were. Your testing was able to identify the underlying cause for Cole's learning problem. I was then able to share some of my son's needs with his teachers at Palm Desert Middle School and his tutor. The information gained has helped him immensely.

Last but not least, I want to thank you for just being you. It was so evident that your love for kids is and was pure. While my son had negative vibes about seeing other therapists in the past, he seemed to feel very comfortable with you. I was enjoying the interaction between the two of you. I also saw a trust level with Cole towards you that I did not see in the past with other therapists. And it happened so quickly. I thank you again for being you. You are a warm, dedicated professional and a very personable man. It was a wonderful and informative experience for both Cole and me.

Again, thank you for making a difference,

Sincerely,

J.P.

Thank you Brent for giving us the tools to help Emily, our 10 year old daughter. We realize that we have a long road ahead, but you have given us a better understanding of what that road entails. Emily’s self esteem has improved because she realizes that she has strengths , not just weaknesses. We feel as if you have given us the key to unlock a mystery, and that key will lead to Emily’s success in learning. Thank you for giving us all peace of mind, and the ability to help Emily.

Brent is the man! As a young man with no idea of what I wanted to do with myself, I came to Brent in search of clarity and answers. I took a few of tests and found a new friendship along the way. He amplified my drive to achieve ten-fold and advised me on the proper actions to take to achieve my goals. I am now eagerly in search of a college education, having more self-confidence and a clearer view of my future.

Brent works wonders! I brought my 5 year old son to be evaluated for ADHD. I thought there would just be a few questions and I would be told to give him pills and that's it. Boy was I wrong! Brent took his time to make my son comfortable and made the tests fun. We were given more options than anyone else seemed to have. When my son goes to his social skills appointments he is so excited and can't wait to start! If you ask my son about Brent his reply is "Brent's not a doctor...he is my FRIEND!

Our son, who attends, Christian Schools of the Desert, had severe anxiety about learning and anything involving the classroom. After my son was evaluated, we had a clearer picture of his strengths and weaknesses and were better able to help him succeed at school. Brent has changed my son's life about learning, also about himself. At the end of the school year he was given an award in front of the school for most progress and the Outstanding Achievement Award. The teacher was tearing up when she spoke of his difficult start, with an outstanding finish! We started this new school year with a great attitude and smiles daily. This was not something that any loving great parent could have changed. It had to come from an outside source, Brent was it.

Thank you Brent!

I truly appreciate how you have helped our family. First, you gave my special needs/medically fragile 5-year-old a thorough evaluation. I was amazed at how you were able to deal with her and bring out her best. She seemed to think it was just a fun event designed just for her and wasn't ready to leave when you were finished. I felt that your evaluation was so on target and completely accurate. Your evaluation of my child has been my documented support that has helped me obtain the education my child deserves within the school district and continues to be of utmost support in getting her serviced to fit her fluctuating educational needs.

I feel so supported by you. You told me to call you if I had any concerns pertaining to my child and you meant it. As you know, I had several crises to do with educational issues for my daughter and a couple of personal crises as well. Each time I called you, you either referred me to someone who could and did actually help me or you walked me thru the steps I needed to take to begin to resolve whatever issue I had called about. I really wish I had known you when my teenager was younger so I could have had her properly evaluated and perhaps avoided a lot of confusion and misplacement for her academically.

You've been a real life saver many times for us.

Thanks again Brent,

As a high school student in challenging academic courses, I felt disadvantaged compared to my classmates.

My Mom and I heard about Brent through the school counselors and felt that it was time I was tested for ADHD. The process could not have been more professional, accurate, or comfortable. Brent made my testing a positive experience and going to his office was something I looked forward to. I recommend Brent and his programs with my highest regard. Brent helped me in every aspect of my disability and without his help I would not have received the accommodations (extra time on tests) in high school that helped me so much. Brent's programs are professional and his easygoingness and positive attitude truly made me feel relaxed and comfortable during the time we spent together. Brent Cooper made a difference in my life academically and if your son or daughter needs testing, Brent is everything you're looking for.
